The aim of the initial consultations is to conduct a thorough nutrition assessment of you as an individual so that all advice and action plans can be personalised to your unique needs. Concretely, it will include an in-depth review of your current and previous diet, weight and medical history; we will explore your food-related issues together, your expectations and key areas you think should be highlighted in the nutritional plan.
Together we will formulate an action plan and establish some goals that are realistic and achievable to achieve positive results. All nutritional guidance will be individualised to suit your needs and fit in with your lifestyle, to successfully achieve visible long-term changes.
REVIEW CONSULTATION 30 minutes
Making changes to the way you eat can seem overwhelming. Review sessions will provide you with the ongoing support, monitoring and accountability to help you progress toward your goals. Research shows that regular sessions with a qualified dietitian yield far superior results, compared with trying to do it alone. In review sessions we examine further your nutritional action plan, cover any specific areas in more depth, discuss any testing you make have undertaken and make further dietary and lifestyle changes.
BODY COMPOSITION ANALYSIS ASSESSMENT
Look beyond the number on the scales and really get to know your body with a body composition test using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology.
Measuring weight alone or even relying on BMI is not an accurate assessment of health or fitness, because it doesn’t distinguish kilograms that come from fat and kilograms that come from lean muscle mass. Muscle is much denser and heavier than fat, so a lean, muscular person can weigh more than someone with a higher amount of body fat.
Muscle is also much more metabolically active than fat, so the more muscle you have the higher your daily calorie requirements and vice versa. Body composition analysis provides valuable information to tailor nutritional plans precisely to your individual needs.
HOW IT CAN HELP
Track changes toward body composition goals ie. building muscle mass or reducing body fat
Assess and tracking level of visceral fat (fat around organs) which places you at a very high risk of developing serious chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
Assess if you are losing weight the healthy way i.e. losing body fat and preserving muscle mass
Assess metabolic rate to enable more accurate prediction on daily calorie requirements
Helping to determine reasons for weight plateaus if they occur
HOW IT WORKS The Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) operates by passing safe low level electrical signals through the body via touch points. The signal is conducted through the water contained in the body. Muscles, blood, bones and body tissues have a high water content which allows the signal to pass easily. On the other hand, body fat contains very little water and causes impedance or resistance to the signal.
The Body Composition Analyser provides a detailed report which includes:
Weight
Body Mass Index (BMI)
Fat %
Muscle Mass
Total Body Water (Hydration levels)
Basal Metabolic Rate
Metabolic Age
Physique Rating
Visceral Fat Rating
The Body Composition Assessment will be conducted in person, and you will then receive an electronic report of your test results.
